GS1 Colombia, a member organization of the GS1 world network, providing connectivity solutions to companies of various sectors of the country, using communication and identification standards to make their products' information visible.
This is a non-profit organization that makes available its identification system (widely known and the starting point for multiple solutions, such as bar codes) to provide a framework that allows products, services and information to move safely and efficiently for the benefit of companies and to improve the living standards of our clients... everyday, everywhere. GS1 standards ensure efficient exchanges among companies, and serve as basic guidelines that facilitate interoperability and provide structure for many industries.
GS1 Colombia was created in 1998 by Colombian entrepreneurs from Almacenes Éxito, Cafam and Unilever, among others, with the aim of working together and making their organizations, and consequently, the country's economy more competitive. Being aware of their needs and requirements, these companies take an active part in developing standards and solutions that have a direct impact on their sectors' efficiency for the benefit of consumers. Team Foods, Cafam, Grandes Superficies de Colombia, Galletas Noel S.A.S, Fenalco, Carvajal Soluciones, Olímpica and Unilever are the companies that currently make up the Board of Directors of GS1 Colombia.
Over the last 25 years, GS1 Colombia has focused on bringing benefits to its members and clients - over 23,000 companies - by developing Value Networks, based on the collaboration among business partners and the implementation of such standards.
